Western New York Flash News Release

Elma, N.Y. (Monday, April 29, 2013) - The Western New York Flash completed the club's first NWSL trade on Monday, sending defender Melinda Mercado to the Boston Breakers in exchange for a second round pick in the 2014 NWSL College Draft.

Signed as a free agent, Mercado did not play in any of the Flash's first three games of the season. In 2012, she was a third round draft pick (16th overall) by the Breakers in the WPS Draft, shortly before the league ceased operations.

Three members of the current Flash roster were taken in the 2013 NWSL College Draft, with Adrianna Franch, Amy Barczuk and Vicki DiMartino all being named to the team's final roster.

The Western New York Flash will return to action at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night when they host Sky Blue FC at Sahlen's Stadium. Tickets for the game are available online or by calling the Sahlen's Stadium box office at (585) 454-KICK.
