Weekend Preview: Bulls Host the IceRays

THE SERIES: It will be the seventh and eighth meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. The Bulls have a 3-1-2 mark in the six previous match-ups between the two teams. In the last two weekend match-ups, the Bulls have taken the first game but have fallen in the second. Forward Tyler Deresky leads all Bulls' players with two goals and eight assists for 10 points, while TJ Sarcona has four goals and five assists for nine points. Forward Gage Christianson has four goals. Goaltender Paul Berrafato is unbeaten 3-0-0 with a 1.99 Goals Against Average and a .917 save percentage. Rudy Sulmonte, Emil Romig and Michael Economos have combined for 13 points in the six games for Corpus Christi. Ben Myers has both of the IceRays victories, but a goals against average of near four per game.

WEEKEND REWIND: The Amarillo Bulls earned their third series sweep in a row when they took two over the Texas Tornado, by the same 3-2 score. On Friday, Blake Roubos notched the game winner in the final two minutes to beat Texas. Gage Christianson and Brady Ferguson had the goals in the first game in support of Paul Berrafato who was outstanding. The following night TJ Sarcona tipped home the winner in the final five minutes as the Bulls again won 3-2. Carter Penzien and TJ Sherman collected the other goals.

The Corpus Christi IceRays had last weekend off and hadn't played for nearly two weeks when they swept the Odessa Jackalopes 6-3 and 4-2.

SOUTH DIVISION UPDATE: It's a 10 point lead for the Amarillo Bulls over the Topeka RoadRunners for first place in the South Division. The RoadRunners are back in Texas for two with the Tornado this weekend. Those two teams are separated by just a single point. The Corpus Christi IceRays have a seven point lead over the Wichita Falls Wildcats for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division. The Wildcats entertain the Odessa Jackalopes this weekend.

BULLS NOTES: Forward Ryan Cole has six assists in his last four games, and nine total points in his last seven games. The Bulls are 14-0-1 when leading after 40 minutes on home ice this season, while 6-1-3 in one goal games. In the seven game winning streak, Amarillo has allowed two goals or less and have scored 27 times.
