Waza Flo Faces Cincinnati In First Round Of PlayoffsFebruary 12, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - Detroit Waza
"The King's won the division two years ago and we lost a few players to them the following season", stated head coach Dominic Scicluna. Â With Detroit's division win last year combined with a trip to the finals at Nationals, those players quickly returned to WAZA FLO's lineup and are happy to be there. Â "That combined with the fact that we both have very physical, skillful teams always makes for a great game", added Scicluna.
Detroit will travel to Cincinnati and kickoff the first round of the Ron Newman cup series on February 23, 2013. The second and final game of that round will again, pit Cinci against the WAZA FLO on Detroit's home turf,Â February 24, 2013 2:35 kickoff Â at the Melvindale Civic Arena (4300 S Dearborn Street, Melvindale, MI 48122)
The PASL capped off it's first three seasons with the North American Championship, a tournament that involved teams from the PASL, CMISL, and LMFR. Last year, the PASL staged it's first league-specific championship known as The Ron Newman Cup. Â Ron Newman was a long-time San Diego coach who revolutionized the sport of arena soccer and won 10 league titles in an 11 season span.
