North Shore Navigators News Release
The North Shore Navigators have announced that they have signed three Northeast-10 Conference players for the summer season. Mike Calzetta (UMass Lowell), Joe Carnevale (Merrimack College), and Calvin Graves (Franklin Pierce University) will put aside their rivalry in an attempt to bring a championship back to Lynn.
Calzetta, a Lawrence, Massachusetts native, is a right-handed pitcher who is in his junior year at UMass Lowell. Last season, Calzetta pitched in over 70 innings for the River Hawks, recording a 4-3 record while posting a 3.45 ERA. When asked about Calzetta, River Hawk's Head Coach Ken Harring said, "Mike is the ultimate competitor and will contribute mightily to the outstanding Navigators organization."
Carnevale, an East Providence, Rhode Island native, is a RHP in his sophomore year at Merrimack College. Last season Carnevale started 11 games for the Warriors, earning a 3-3 record while posting a 3.73 ERA, which was good for 5th best on the team. Carnevale was also able to hold opposing batters to only a .271 batting average, while striking out 56 batters in 62.2 innings of work. When asked about Carnevale, Warriors Head Coach said, "We are excited to have Joe play for the North Shore Navigators this summer and Coach Jon Cahill. The Futures League has already developed a great reputation and we look forward to continue to have our players in the league."
Graves, a Boston, Massachusetts native, is an outfielder in his sophomore year at Franklin Pierce University. Last season, Graves hit an impressive .373 while tallying 25 stolen bases. Through the end of his sophomore season, Graves is tied 12th all-time in program history in stolen bases (34). When asked about Graves, Raven Head Coach Jayson King said, "Calvin is a very dynamic player. He has a very strong arm, is a good outfielder, and is exceptionally quick. He also is a good hitter and knows how to get on base. He should be one of the most exciting players in the league."
