Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons are wearing one-of-a-kind jerseys for their game February 1 against the Charlotte Checkers. The jerseys will be available for bids in a live auction immediately following that game.

For the third straight season the Barons have partnered with Special Olympics Oklahoma in a program called Barons Buddies. Each Barons player adopts a Special Olympics athlete for the duration of the season. The team and athlete meet on three occasions during the season to form a permanent bond.

In late October, the athletes met their Barons Buddies at the Cox Convention Center for a night of games and a tour of the locker room. Last week, the Barons and their Buddies met for a round of bowling. Each Barons Buddy was invited to the game on February 1. The program concludes near the end of the season with a pizza party.

Last season, the Barons and Special Olympics created memories for 20 athletes and their families and raised over $25,000 in the process via the team wearing and auctioning one-of-a-kind jerseys.

The Barons host the Charlotte Checkers in a pair of games this weekend. Both games faceoff at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center and can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.

A variety of ticket packages are available to meet every individual or group need. Packages ranging from 7-game and 11-game packs to Full Season Seats are available. Call the Barons' front office at 405-232-4625 for information on group outings, Season Seats and other ticket packages.
