Matinee Game Today at the BMO
January 21, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- After a rough and tumble game on Saturday, the Rockford IceHogs are looking to rebound today against the Texas Stars. Today's Martin Luther King Day game is slated for 1:05 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
It's Kids Day today as all kids 18-and-under can get $5 tickets. The first 1,000 kids 14-and-under will pick up an IceHogs drawstring bag courtesy of Hog Wash and don't forget your skates as the team will hold a Skate with the Hogs event following the contest.
For tickets, call (815) 968-5222, online through IceHogs.com or in person at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office and any Ticketmaster outlet location.
The IceHogs set several franchise records on Saturday against Grand Rapids, including most goals allowed and most penalty minutes. The task today doesn't get any easier for Rockford as the red hot Stars make their second and final trip to the BMO.
Since starting the season 6-7-1-1, Texas is 18-5-1-2 since Nov. 25. These two teams last met on Nov. 27 in Rockford and the Hogs staked out to an early 3-0 lead, but coughed it up and eventually fell 5-4.
The IceHogs 11-6 loss on Saturday to Grand Rapids ended the team's three-game winning streak, but the club still stands in third place in the AHL's Midwest Division, one point behind the Chicago Wolves for the second spot.
Today's game is also the third contest in a season-high five game homestand for Rockford. The IceHogs have split the first two outings and the homestand will end on Saturday before the AHL's All-Star break.
Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 25 vs. Chicago Wolves. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Rockford and Chicago meet in an Illinois Lottery Cup matchup at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 2,500 fans to the game will pick up an IceHogs fleece blanket courtesy of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
