LA CROSSE, WI - The La Crosse Loggers extended their relationship with the University of Washington baseball program today by announcing the signings of catcher Ryan Wiggins and right-handed pitcher Jared Fisher to their 2013 roster.

Wiggins, a 6-0, 220 pound junior backstop, is one of the top returning hitters for the Huskies, a program on the rise in the Pac-12. The Seattle, Wash. native earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors in 2011 when he hit .299 with 2 homers and 13 RBI's over 134 at-bats. During an injury-plagued 2012, Wiggins hit. .276 over 29 at- bats before going on to have a very fruitful summer in the West Coast Collegiate League. Wiggins was also drafted out of West Seattle High School back in 2010 when the Pittsburgh Pirates selected him in the 46th round before he opted to pursue his collegiate career at UW.

Fisher, like his teammate Wiggins, also had the opportunity to pursue professional baseball out of high school as he was selected in the 26th Round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros before choosing to attend Washington. The 6-4, 245 pound right-handed hurler enjoyed quite the prep career before becoming a Husky as he made the Area Code Games as a sophomore and junior and made the Perfect Game National Team and preseason All-America team in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Also like Wiggins, Fisher enjoyed a very successful summer of 2012 in the West Coast Collegiate League as he was one of the top starting pitchers for the Bellingham Bells. While there, Fisher went 4-3 with a 3.21 ERA over 56 innings pitched while ranking second on the team with nine games started.

Wiggins, Fisher and the rest of the Loggers will open their 2013 campaign on May 29 when they travel to Battle Creek, Mich. to take on the Bombers. The 2013 home opener is set for Sunday, June 2 when the Loggers play host to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in a 5:05 p.m. affair at The Lumberyard.
