Wingnuts Announce 2013 Schedule

December 20, 2012 - American Association (AA) - Wichita Wingnuts News Release

The American Association maintains a continuous, 100-game schedule format with three division winners and one wild card qualifying for the playoffs.

Wichita's schedule features 15 different opponents, including 11 that will visit Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The 2013 season begins at home on Thursday, May 16th with a two-game series against division-rival Kansas City. The Wingnuts and T-Bones square off a total of 11 times, including a three-game set in Wichita to close out the regular season (August 31st through September 2nd).

The Wingnuts have 42 games scheduled against Central Division opponents. In addition to Kansas City, the Wingnuts face Gary SouthShore, Lincoln, and Sioux City at least 10 times each. On Tuesday, June 18th, the Wingnuts host the RailCats in a day-night double header. Start times for the separate-admission twinbill are 11:05 a.m. and 7:05 p.m.

Standard start times for 2013 are 7:05 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 3:16 p.m. on Sunday. The two exceptions are the double header on June 18th, and the regular season finale on Monday, September 2nd (5:05 p.m.).

For a second straight year, the American Association and Can-Am League form an interlocking schedule to counterbalance an odd number of teams in each league. The Wingnuts play 13 games against Can-League opponents. The New Jersey Jackals visit Wichita May 23rd-25th, while the Winguts travel east for 10 games in August.

Wichita has 12 different cities on their road schedule, and embarks on a 16-game road trip from July 26th through August 11th while the 79th annual NBC World Series takes place at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The trek begins with a pair of three-game series in Grand Prairie and El Paso. The latter portion covers the Wingnuts' visit to the Can-Am League, with stops at New Jersey, Rockland, and Newark.

The 2013 season of Wichita Wingnuts baseball begins Thursday, May 16th against the Kansas City T-Bones at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
