Mississauga Power News Release

(OSHAWA, ON) Durham's team the Oshawa Power defeat the expansion Montreal Jazz 121 - 100 putting together back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The Power jumped out to an early 26 - 6 lead in the first quarter leading to a quick Jazz time out. The Jazz fought back and reduced the lead to just three points, but that was as close as they would get.

Local Durham region star Papa Oppong recorded his first double-double of the season recording 11 points and 10 rebounds.

"Tonight we came out with a lot of intensity from the beginning," said Oppong after the game. " We were able to buckle down on defense from the opening tip and that set the tempo."

The Power were able to get their hands in the passing lanes and created 17 Jazz turnovers. They also held the Jazz to 42% shooting from the floor.

Durham's team also showed their unselfishness on the offensive end leading to 27 assits and seven different players in double figures scoring. Nick Okorie had a game high 28 points continuing his strong play over the past couple of games.

" We're all clicking right now. I think the longer we're together the more we will learn how to play with each other. The chemistry is getting a lot better."

The Power now get set to try and make it three wins in a row as they host the Halifax Rainmen on Saturday December 1st at 2:00 p.m. Former Oshawa Power star and last year's league leading scorer Brandon Robinson will make his return to Oshawa for the first time this year.

"Robinson is a great scorer," said Oppong following the win. "It should be fun, I'd like to take on the challenge of guarding him." Saturday's home game against the Halifax Rainmen has been moved from a 7:00 p.m. start time to a 2:00 p.m. start time.

Power Glance Record: 6-4

Next Home Game: Saturday December 1, 2012 2:00 p.m. vs. Halifax Rainmen.
