Nick Rimando Called-Up to U.S. National Team for Upcoming Friendly

SANDY, Utah (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012) - Real Salt Lake announced on Monday that RSL GK Nick Rimando has been called-up to the U.S. national team for its friendly against No. 9-ranked Russia on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
This is the seventh-consecutive U.S. national team roster that Rimando has been named to. The 33-year-old UCLA product served as a backup in the most recent camp, which saw the U.S. beat Antigua & Barbuda on the road and Guatemala at home to advance to the final round of World Cup Qualifying. Rimando has six career caps with the U.S. team
Rimando enjoyed another stellar year for Real Salt Lake in 2012, posting a 16-11-4 MLS regular season record, notching 83 saves and registering 12 shutouts to move his career regular season total to 99. Rimando was incredible down the stretch for RSL, allowing just one goal in his final four games across all competitions and making incredible save after incredible save to keep RSL in its Western Conference Semifinal series against Seattle Sounders FC.
Rimando is one of three goalkeepers on the U.S. squad, along with Everton GK Tim Howard and Chicago Fire GK Sean Johnson. Rimando, Johnson and Chivas USA FW Juan Agudelo are the only three MLS players on the squad.
Rimando and the rest of the U.S. team will take on Russia at Kuban Stadium in Krasnodar at 8:00 a.m. MT on Wednesday morning. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3 and Univision Deportes.
