Louisiana Netminder Riley Gill Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (October 31, 2012) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Riley Gill of the Louisiana IceGators is the Easton Player of the Week for October 26-28.

Gill, who hails from Northfield, Minnesota, went 2-0 with a 1.92 goals against average and .935 save percentage as the IceGators opened the season with a pair of wins over Huntsville.

On Friday, Gill stopped 32 of 33 shots, including 16 in the third period, in leading Louisiana to a 4-1 Opening Night win over the Havoc. Gill came back on Saturday with a 26-save effort, six of them in overtime, in the IceGators' 4-3 shootout win over Huntsville.

A four-year standout at Western Michigan University, Gill finished his collegiate career with the highest save percentage (0.915), most shutouts (8) and second-best goals against average (2.94) in school history. He also holds the single-season school record for save percentage (0.923), set during his senior year. Last year, Gill went 24-15-5 with a 2.93 goals against average for the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings.
