Boston Breakers News Release

A handful of Breakers have spent the better part of the offseason still on the soccer field, remaining active in the game. But they're not exactly on the field themselves. They're coaching college, high school, youth, and club teams in the greater Boston area.

"As an organization, we are thrilled to have Boston Breakers players coaching in local communities," General Manager Lee Billiard said. "We are not only focused on our professional athletes competing on the field, but we are focused on educating young soccer players and making a strong footprint building grass roots soccer in Massachusetts."

Breakers forward Katie Schoepfer is one of the players coaching a local team. She is in the Acton-Boxboro area, leading a youth team.

"I have a lot of fun coaching these girls," she said. "It has been great to watch them grow as soccer players and know that I had something to do with it. My favorite part of coaching them is when I teach them a concept, then I see them using what I taught them in a game situation."

Fan Tribute Tour continues for Olympic gold medalists

The U.S. Women's National Team, featuring Breakers midfielder Heather O'Reilly, recently announced two additional games added to the Fan Tribute Tour. The U.S. will face Ireland on Nov. 28 in Portland, Oregon and Dec. 1 in Phoenix, Arizona.

But before the U.S. takes on Ireland, they will play a little closer to home, right here in New England. The U.S. plays Germany on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. They also take on Germany Saturday, Oct. 20, at Toyota Park in Chicago.

Visit the U.S. Soccer website for ticket information and more news about the Fan Tribute Tour.
