SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012) - Real Salt Lake (14-11-4, 4 points, West #4) will begin preparing for Saturday's important league match against the Portland Timbers (7-14-7, 28 points, West #8) at Rio Tinto Stadium with a training session on Thursday, Sept. 20 at America First Field in Sandy.

The Claret-and-Cobalt head into Saturday's game against Portland - which will kickoff at 6 p.m. MT and be broadcast nationally on the NBC Sports Network - in fourth-place in the Western Conference, trailing the third-place L.A. Galaxy by virtue of the goals scored tiebreaker. RSL - which has just five MLS matches left this season - will want to climb into at least third by the end of the campaign in order to avoid playing in the four-vs-five, single elimination Wild Card round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Real Salt Lake is 2-0-0 against Portland this year, scoring two late goals to beat the Timbers 3-2 at JELD-WEN Field on March 31 and getting a hat trick from FW Alvaro Saborio to topple the Cascadia club 3-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on July 7.
