Bourbeau and Harvey Join up with Jackals

ELMIRA, N.Y. - September 10, 2012 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have agreed to terms with forwards Jean Bourbeau and Kevin Harvey for the 2012-13 season. "Bringing Jean and Kevin back for this season is a crucial step in our pursuit of a championship. They both bring a lot of leadership, toughness, and skill to our club and we're thrilled to have them back," said Jackals general manager Matt Hufnagel.
Bourbeau, 28, will enter his fifth season of professional hockey when the puck drops in October. Last season he registered 26 points (10G, 16A) and 48 penalty minutes over 49 regular season games with the Jackals then added five points (3G, 2A) in 10 Kelly Cup playoff games.
Prior to joining the Jackals, Bourbeau split three seasons between the Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League and the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. With Odessa he racked up 47 points (22G, 25A) and 177 penalty minutes over 118 games. The 6-0, 200-pound winger dressed in 47 games for Bridgeport and notched nine points (3G, 6A) along with 55 penalty minutes.
Harvey, 28, falls under the ECHL's veteran classification with 329 professional games under his belt. Of those, 126 have been at the AHL level, and all but nine were with the Syracuse Crunch. In the ECHL, Harvey has divided 57 games between Reading, Toledo, and Elmira and has garnered 21 points (6G, 15A) along with 261 penalty minutes. He was a ninth round draft pick of the Calgary Flames (#270 overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Last season with the Jackals Harvey, 6-2, 200-pounds, was third on the club with 95 penalty minutes despite playing only 23 games. He also recorded a pair of multi-point games including a goal and an assist in a shootout win over Trenton on December 2, 2011.
