Yankees Win Season Finale

STATEN ISLAND, NY-The Staten Island Yankees (30-45) scored three runs in the sixth inning to earn a 5-3 win over the Connecticut Tigers (35-40) in the season finale for both clubs at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

The Yankees scored a run in the first inning. LF Danny Oh (1-4) hit a solo home run over the center field wall against RHP Edgar De La Rosa for a 1-0 lead.

Connecticut tied the game in the fifth inning. SS Jared Reaves (1-2) singled and went to second base when C Bennett Pickar (0-3) was hit by a pitch. DH Charlie Neal (1-3) grounded out to move Reaves to third base. Reaves scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by DH Carlos De Los Santos (1-3) for a 1-1 tie.

The Yankees re-took the lead in the fifth inning with a single run to make it 2-1 Staten Island.

Connecticut scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. CF Jake Stewart (0-3) led off with a walk and stole second base. He scored on a single by LF Danry Vasquez for a 2-2 tied score. The Tigers later scored a run on a wild pitch.

The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers will host the 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday, August 13 and ticket information will be announced soon.
