
Generals Outlast BayBears Tuesday, Winning 7-5

MOBILE, AL - Seven Generals' collected two-hit games Tuesday in Mobile as the Generals outlasted the BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium, 7-5. The game featured 12 runs, 27 hits and 26 runners left on base. It was the longest nine inning game of the season, lasting 3 hours and 41 minutes. Jackson leads the current series 2-1 and improves to 74-54 overall and 32-26 in the second half, two games back of Chattanooga.
Jackson trailed 1-0 after the first four innings Tuesday and tied the game in the fifth on a wild pitch by Mobile starter Michael Bolsinger that scored Johermyn Chavez.
The Generals jumped ahead 4-1 by scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Chih-Hsien Chiang and Johermyn Chavez provided RBI singles and Denny Almonte collected a sacrifice fly to center.
Mobile trimmed the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning on RBI's from Rossmel Perez and Evan Frey.
Jackson and Mobile traded runs in the seventh inning by scoring runs on wild pitches. Jackson led 5-4 after seven frames.
Mobile tied the game at 5-5 in the eighth inning on a RBI single by Alfredo Marte against Jackson reliever Forrest Snow.
Again Jackson countered in the ninth. Joe Dunigan took a leadoff walk and was followed by a double from Mike Zunino, setting up a 2-RBI double from Chih-Hsien Chiang.
Logan Bawcom came on and pitched a scoreless ninth, earning his 16th save of the season and second in three games.
Nate Tenbrink, Brad Miller, Rich Poythress, Mike Zunino, Chih-Hsien Chiang, Johermyn Chavez and Leury Bonilla collected two hit games. Joe Dunigan scored two runs and Denny Almonte had an RBI as everyone contributed.
Starter James Gillheeney took a no decision leaving after 5.1 innings on the mound. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4. Forrest Snow (4-5) earned the victory and the loss was taken by Eury De La Rosa (4-4) of the BayBears.
The Generals continue their 10-game road trip and five-game series in Mobile on Wednesday with game three of the set. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. LHP Steve Garrison (5-3, 4.32) starts for the Generals opposite RHP Brett Tomko (1-0, 1.80) for the BayBears.The game will be available on NewsTalk 101.5 FM, jacksongeneralsbaseball.com and the Generals TuneIn Radio Station.
