Huntsville Takes Opener, Snaps Generals' Win Streak

JACKSON, TENN. - The Generals had their 3-game win streak snapped Thursday by Huntsville, falling 8-3 in front of 3,220 fans at Pringles Park. Three Generals recorded two-hit games including Chiang, who was 2-fo-4 with a run. Chiang now has a season-high 9-game hitting streak. Rich Poythress was 0-for-3 with a walk and had his 13-game hit streak come to an end. Jackson's lead in the SL North second half standings is now just 1/2 game over the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Generals are now 7-9 against the Stars this season.

Huntsville took advantage of a walk and a double from Khris Davis in the second inning, plating their first run on an RBI groundout by Kentrail Davis.

Jackson tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI groundout that scored Chih-Hsien Chiang who tripled to start the inning.

The Stars opened up the game in the top of the fourth by scoring four runs and capping it off with a 2-run double from Josh Prince. The Stars went ahead 5-1 after the big fourth inning.

Stars' catcher Adam Weisenburger smashed a 2-run homer to left in the sixth, ending the night for Generals starter Forrest Snow. The homer put Huntsville up 7-1.

Nate Tenbrink provided some offense for the Generals in the eighth by hitting his third homer of the season, a 2-run shot made it 7-3 Stars after eight innings. Huntsville added a run against Jackson reliever Moises Hernandez in the ninth that made the final, 8-3.

Forrest Snow (1-5) suffered the loss for Jackson surrendering 7 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits over 5.2 innings. Snow walked 3 and struck out 1. Huntsville starter Josh Stinson (10-5), with the win is now tied for the league lead in wins. Stinson tossed a season-high 8.0 innings for the Stars. Mauricio Robles provided 2.1 scoreless innings of relief for Jackson, striking out 5.

The Generals continue their homestand with the Huntsville Stars on Friday night, with pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Jackson will send to the mound RHP Taijuan Walker (5-5, 4.62) while RHP Evan Anundsen (5-5, 4.68) is scheduled to make the start for Huntsville. Friday, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Doug Fister bobblehad compliments of the Jackson Sun.
