Huntsville Stars News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Five people, two live-streaming webcams, one car, one "Survivor." Car Survivor presented by Jerry Damson Honda is back for the third straight year! Five contestants will go seat-to-seat in this intense competition, streamed live online 24 hours a day and we want YOU to be in on the action!

The Huntsville Stars and Jerry Damson Honda are looking for five exciting contestants (ages 18 and older) to participate in this year's challenge. The game is simple: the contestants sit in a car provided by Jerry Damson Honda, taking a 15-minute break every six hours. The winner is the one person who can "outsit, outlast and outplay" the other four contestants. The grand prize? The car from Jerry Damson Honda!

The contestants are allowed to eat and drink (non-alcoholic beverages only) in the car, but whatever they bring in the car must stay in the car, including all trash and leftover food. That means all those empty McDonald's Big Mac wrappers and Jet's Pizza boxes can start to stack up. No tobacco, electronic cigarettes, or illegal substances are allowed in the car. As a safety measure, all contestants must drink at least 128 ounces (one gallon) of water every 24 hours to prevent heat-related injuries.

The competition and the car will be placed under a tent in front of Joe Davis Stadium to keep contestants out of direct sunlight. All of the action will be monitored around the clock by Stars and Jerry Damson Honda staff members and viewers like you! Car Survivor 3 will be streaming online LIVE 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the official Car Survivor 3 website, www.carsurvivor.com.

The fun kicks off on Wednesday, August 1 immediately following the conclusion of the National Anthem prior to the start of the Huntsville Stars and Chattanooga Lookouts game and lasts until the final contestant exits the car.

Applications are now being accepted at the official website (www.carsurvivor.com) and at the Huntsville Stars offices, located on the second floor of Joe Davis Stadium. Fans can also fax applications to Jill Cacic at (256) 880-0801. Interested participants must be 18 years or older, in good health and be able to make a seven to 10 day commitment to the contest. Applicants are strongly encouraged to make and upload a YouTube video showcasing their personality while describing why they should be selected as a Car Survivor 3 contestant. Video submissions can be uploaded at the Car Survivor website. All applications must be received no later than Wednesday, July 25 at 5 p.m.

Last year's winner, Shawn Harris of Decatur, finally exited the car after a staggering eight days, 23 hours and 14 minutes; that's just 46 minutes shy of nine straight days living in a 2007 Certified Used Honda Accord with four of your newest best friends and rivals. In 2010, the competition lasted just short of nine days as well with 18-year-old Jeremy Hatley being crowned Car Survivor Champion. He won a silver 2007 Certified Used Honda Accord with a sticker value of $15,425.
