NORWICH -The Tigers begin a three-game series with the Auburn Doubledays, the NYPL affiliate of the Washington Nationals, this evening at 7:05 p.m. at Dodd Stadium. The Doubledays feature former UCONN RHP David Fischer and LHP Bryan Harper, the brother of Washington Nationals rookie OF Bryce Harper.
Fischer, an 18th round pick by the Nationals this year, went 5-6 with a 3.47 ERA for the Huskies this spring in his senior season. The right-hander from Scotia, NY is 1-1 with a 4.80 ERA in five appearances, (one start), in his pro career.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers saw a 23% increase in attendance in 2011 (the 4th highest in Minor League Baseball), and are in their third season at Dodd Stadium.
