FORT MYERS, FL (July 9, 2012) - The Florida State League announced today that Fort Myers Miracle outfielder Danny Ortiz has been named Player of the Week for July 2-8, 2012.

Ortiz appeared in seven games collecting 10 hits in 30 plate appearance. He had four multi-hit games, including three hits on July 5 at Charlotte. His offensive output included three homeruns, one triple, and two doubles. He had nine RBI's and scored five times.

The Cayey, Puerto Rico native was promoted to Fort Myers on April 30. He is hitting .286 with six home runs and 23 RBI's in 55 games with the Miracle. Combined with his 22 games in Beloit, he is hitting .290 with eight home runs and 36 RBI.

The 22-year old was a fourth round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2008 Major League Draft has shown some impressive power notching homers in the three of his last four games.

Ortiz joins Angel Morales, Lance Ray and Oswaldo Arcia as Florida State League Player of the Week honorees this season.

The Pitcher of the Week is Clearwater's Adam Morgan. He started two games, recorded one win, and had a 0.00 ERA. In 13 innings pitched he gave up five hits, no runs, walked two batters, and struck out 16 batters. Morgan is in his second year of professional baseball and resides in Marietta, GA.
