Huntsville Stars News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Huntsville Stars and Milwaukee Brewers have made a pair of roster moves prior to the start of tonight's series opener against Chattanooga. RHP Jesus Sanchez has been promoted to Triple-A Nashville Sounds. In a related move, RHP Johnnie Lowe has been transferred to Huntsville from Nashville.
Sanchez, a Southern League All-Star, is 3-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 32 appearances for the Stars. He converted 11 of 12 save opportunities. In 45.1 innings, he struck out 41 while only allowing 13 walks while keeping opponents to a .213 batting average. He had a span from April 11 - May 21 (15 appearances, 24.1ip) where he did not allow a run and only allowed 11 hits. The 24-year-old was named the Brewers Co-Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May, along with teammate Tyler Thornburg. This is Sanchez's first promotion to Triple-A.
Lowe is 4-0 with a 3.55 ERA (33ip/13er) in 19 games with the Sounds this season. The righty didn't allow an earned run through his first nine appearances of the season (15.2ip). He finished the 2009 season with the Birmingham Barons (AA-White Sox) and spent the entire 2010 and 2011 seasons with the Barons. Last season, he went 7-4 with a 3.65 ERA in 30 games. He was originally drafted by Chicago (AL) in the sixth round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Point Loma Nazarene (San Diego). He was signed by the Brewers as a free agent on April 13.
With these moves, the Stars active roster sits at 25, the Southern League limit.
The Stars open a six-game homestand tonight with the best post-game 4th of July fireworks in town! Tickets are still available for the game, but fans are recommended to get to the stadium early to get their tickets.
