IceRays Bolster Offense, Acquire Sulmonte

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The offseason is starting to heat up for the Corpus Christi IceRays after announcing today the acquisition of Rudy Sulmonte from the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) in exchange for future considerations.

The word experience, is used by IceRays head coach Justin Quenneville when he described the forward. "Acquiring Rudy will add depth and experience to our offensive core," said Quenneville. "He possesses a high skill level and has good touch around the net. I know Rudy is excited about reporting to Corpus Christi and we couldn't be more thrilled with the acquisition."

The experience has taken Sulmonte through two of the three Canadian major junior hockey leagues, along with the United States Hockey League.

In the 2010-2011 season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, the Levittown, NY native banked 12 goals and eight assists in 49 games played in the Ontario Hockey League.

The 2011-2012 season was spent with three separate teams. In 12 games with the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Sulmonte picked up two goals and one assist. After landing in Muskegon with the Lumberjacks of the USHL, he tallied five points in 14 games before he was dealt to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the NAHL where in just 16 games, he scored five goals and assisted seven.

Fairbanks made it all the way to the 2012 Robertson Cup semifinal game against the Texas Tornado, however lost in overtime. Last year however, the Ice Dogs were crowned Robertson Cup Champions.
