Muse Shines in Game Four; Blades Take 3-1 Series Lead

ESTERO, FL- John Muse stopped 29 of 30 shots to help lead the Everblades to a 3-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers in Game Four of the Kelly Cup Finals Tuesday night at Germain Arena. The win gives Florida a 3-1 lead in the series, and an opportunity to clinch the series at home tomorrow night.Eighteen minutes into the period the Everblades got on the board first when David Rutherford stole a pass in the neutral zone and quickly passed to Brandon MacLean. MacLean streaked into the Wranglers offensive zone from an angle and broke toward the top of the crease uncontested. MacLean switched to his back hand and slipped the puck through the five-hole of Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon to give the Blades a 1-0 lead after the first.
The Blades extended their lead to two, five minutes into the second period courtesy of Matt Marquardt. Cedric McNicoll fired a shot from the top of the right side circle which was redirected into the goal by Marquardt for the Florida 2-0 lead.
The Wranglers answered back with a goal of their own a little more than a minute later. Eric Lampe led a two-on-one charge and dropped off a pass to Peter MacArthur in the slot. MacArthur rifled a shot past the glove of John Muse to bring Las Vegas within one goal.
The third period saw both teams giving it their all and the Blades added the insurance goal they were looking for after 15 minutes of play. Justin Shugg found himself at the right side of the net, and sneaked a shot top shelf giving the the Blades a 3-1 lead.
Muse was solid throughout the entire contest, turning aside several quality chances by Las Vegas. Florida buckled down in the final minutes to seal the 3-1 win. Justin Shugg finished with a goal and an assist in the game, while Cedric McNicoll added two assists.
Must earns his league leading 10th win of the of the season stopping 29 of 30 shots, while Fallon take the loss allowing three goals on 30 shots faced.
With the win, the Everblades have a chance to close out the series at home tomorrow night for Game Five at Germain Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p;m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free Blades Pom-Pom.
