St. Paul 3, Gary SouthShore 2
The St. Paul Saints walked off on Gary SouthShore Railcats with a two-run ninth inning after trailing much of the game. Willie Carbrera lead off the bottom of the ninth with a single and Ole Sheldon scored him with a single in the next at bat. Adam Frost came on to pinch run for Sheldon and scored the game winning run as Jose Hernandez singled up the middle to win the game. Wes Roemer worked 7.0 innings for the Saints and gave up just one run on five hits but Dan Sattler picked up the win by working the ninth. Sheldon was 2-for-4 on the day and Jim Rapoport also had two hits but drew two walks as well.
Kansas City 11, New Jersey 3
The Kansas City T-Bones broke a 2-2 tie with the New Jersey Jackals in the third inning with a five-run explosion. Jose O. Duran, Sean Henry and Lee Cruz lead off the inning with three straight singles. After Brandon Jones was walked, first baseman Kala Kaaihue cleared the bases with a grand slam. The T-Bones added on three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to reach the final tally of 11. Kaaihue went 3-for-4 with five RBI, Duran was 3-for-5 and Reid Fronk was 2-for-3. Nick Singleton earned the win with 6.0 innings of work, striking out seven batters and giving up just two runs on four hits.
Wichita 6, Lincoln 4
Ryan Hinson's 6.1 innings of shut-out ball were just enough for the Wingnuts to edge the Lincoln Saltdogs 6-4. David Peralta, who lead the team with two RBI, got the offense started with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning. Two batters later Jake Kahaulelio singled to score Mitch Einerston. The Wingnuts tacked on two more runs in the fifth to give them a 5-0 lead. The Saltdogs picked up four runs in the seventh on a John Alonso single, a C.J. Beatty double and by taking advantage of an error by the pitcher and a dropped third strike. Thomas Palica was slapped with the loss for his 4.1 inning performance in which he gave up nine hits and five runs (all earned).
Grand Prairie 6, Laredo 3
The Grand Prairie Airhogs jumped out early on the Laredo Lemurs and never looked back on their way to a 6-3 win. The Airhogs put up two runs in the second and added on three more in the sixth before the Lemurs broke into scoring column. Chris McMuray had a big day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a team-high three RBI and a homerun. Airhog lead-off man Keanon Simon led the team with three his in five at bats. For the Lemurs, Brian Peterson and Ernie Banks Jr. each had an RBI. Banks was 3-for-4 in the game. Nick DeBarr earned the win for his efforts that included 6.0 innings, four hits and just one run. Justin Dowdy picked up the save in his first appearance of the season.
El Paso 4, Fargo-Moorhead 2
The El Paso Diablos used a three-run sixth inning to create the space they needed to best the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks 4-2. After taking the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first El Paso fell behind as the Redhawks put up one run in the second and the fourth innings. Trailing by one, the Diablos sparked a rally in the sixth. Patrick Arlis tied up the score with a single that scored Palmer Karr Jr. In the next at bat JJ Muse singled home Javier Brito. Brian Joynt followed that with a double that scored Arlis. Muse was 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI and Maikol Gonzalez led the team in hits with three in four at at bats. For Fargo-Moorhead, Jon Gaston scored both runs and was 2-for-4 at the plate. Osvaldo Rodriguez got the win by pitching six innings and giving up two runs, both earned, on five hits.
Sioux City 7, Sioux Falls 6
The Sioux Falls Pheasants made a rally in the ninth inning but it wasn't quite enough to catch the Sioux City Explorers as they fell 7-6. Ryan Priddy had a monster game at the plate as the right handed short stop went 4-for-4 with five RBI and scored three runs. Explorer lead-off hitter Brandon Newton registered the other two RBI for the Explorers on a 2-for-4 night. For Sioux Falls, Jonny Kaplan had three RBI on 3-for-5 hitting for the night. Kaplan singled home a run in the ninth and Jared Bolden scored one batter later as Joe Anthonsen grounded out to the third baseman. The game ended in the next at bat as Cesar Nicolas grounded out stranding two runners. Richard Salazar picked up the win for his 6.2 innings in which he gave up four runs on six hits.
Winnipeg 14, Amarillo 9
The Winnipeg Goldeyes took control of the game with the Amarillo Sox with a seven-run seventh inning and went on to claim the game 14-9. Heading into the fifth inning Winnipeg was trailing 8-1 but put up 12 unanswered runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take a lead that they would not relinquish. Matt Cusick blasted a grand slam to start the scoring in the seventh, that was his only hit of the day. But Luis Alen also had four RBI and a homerun, his dinger was not a grand slam, but a three-run shot in the sixth. For the day Alen was 3-for-5 and scored twice. For the Sox, Cyle Hankerd lead the way with three RBI on a 2-for-6 night at the plate and Matthew Tucker finished the night with a team-high four hits in five at bats. The winning pitcher was Kaohi Downing for his 1.1 inning of relief.
