Breakers Open 2012 Season with Win

The Boston Breakers didn't waste time in their season opener Thursday night in Arnold, Md. Rookie Veronica Napoli scored in the first minute and Katie Schoepfer and rookie Jess Luscinski scored in the 14th and 15th minutes, respectively in Boston's 3-0 win over ASA Chesapeake Charge.

"I liked how we started, going out right away and scoring goals," Head Coach Lisa Cole said. "Overall, I was excited about the team's first win."

Rookie keeper Alice Binns, from Dorchester, Mass., earned the shutout. Captain Leslie Osborne, rookie Courtney Jones, and Napoli added assists. For the full story on Thursday night's game, head over to our website.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

Breakers Face DC United Saturday in Maryland

The Boston Breakers take on D.C. United Women on Saturday, May 12, at 6 p.m. ET in a preseason exhibition at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

"We are looking forward to a great game with D.C. United Women," Breakers Head Coach Lisa Cole said. "We can't wait to play at the Maryland SoccerPlex again. It's one of the best women's soccer venues around, and the fans are always supportive of the game."

The match is being sponsored by the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), one of the oldest and most prestigious all-girls youth soccer leagues in the country. United Women are also donating $1 per ticket to Headers for Hope, a national charity dedicated to fighting cancer and supporting its victims and their families.
