Spinners Announce Will Middlebrooks Bobble Head Night, August 28

LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are happy to announce the team will honor 2008 Lowell Spinner and current Red Sox rookie third baseman Will Middlebrooks with a bobble head in his honor when the team takes on the Tri-City ValleyCats Tuesday, August 28.
Middlebrooks became the 52nd former Spinner to make his Major League debut when he was called up May 2 and joins many former Spinners alumni and local celebrities to be honored by the Spinners in eight inches of porcelain glory.
"We take great pride anytime a former Spinner makes the leap to the Major Leagues," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "Will has progressed each step of the way along his way to Fenway. Having him return to Lowell in 2011 on a rehab assignment, you could see he was ready to make that next step. We are thrilled to honor him with his own Bobble Head Night."
Middlebrooks is one of 9 bobble heads on the 2012 Promotional Schedule, joining former Spinner Jacoby Ellsbury, Super Dustin Pedroia, Peter King, Stephen King, the Human Home Run and Dominic DiMaggio. The Spinners have yet to announce the 9th and final bobble head, set for August 7.
In his professional debut with the Spinners in 2008, Middlebrooks hit .254 with one home run and 21 RBI, stealing 10 bases. When he returned to the team in 2011 four a four game rehab stint, Middlebrooks hit .333 with three home runs and six RBI, overmatching the New York-Penn League and showing he had returned to health.
