Worcester Sharks Sign Burlington, MA Native and Crusader Jay Silvia

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas has announced the signing of forward Jay Silvia to an amateur tryout contract. Per club policy terms of the deal were not enclosed.

Silvia, 23, had appeared in 140 games for the Holy Cross over the span of four seasons totaling 34 goals, 30 assists and 136 PIMs for the Crusaders.

The 6-foot-2 208lb forward from Burlington, MA was tied for 10th in the Atlantic Hockey Conference in game winning with goals (3) and was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for the week of November 14, 2011. Jay had a career best 21 points his freshman season and was named presented with the Crusaders Seventh Player Award for his efforts. He will wear #24 for the Worcester Sharks.

On Friday, April 13th the Sharks host the St. John's IceCaps at 7:30pm with the first 500 fans 18 years-old and above receiving a free Massachusetts Lottery scratch ticket with a chance to win $500 a week for life! Non winners will have the chance to win a signed #13 Curt Gogol puck and the biggest winner will receive a game used #13 Curt Gogol signed stick! It's the final $2-$2-$2 Friday night as select hot dogs, popcorn, and soda for just $2! The game will be shown live on Charter TV3.

On Saturday, the Sharks swim west for a 7pm date with the Phantoms in Glens Falls, NY.

On Sunday, April 15th the Sharks host the Hershey Bears at 3pm in the final regular season home game at the DCU Center. Doors will open at 12pm with the Boston Bruins Alumni game to benefit the Why Me organization presented by Lundgren Honda to start at 12:30pm. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free drawstring backpack courtesy of Becker College. Tickets as low as $10, with one ticket good for both games!

Join the WAAF street team in the lobby and enjoy face painting from Andi the Clown. Before the game, the Sharks will announce their team awards which include Team MVP, Rookie of the Year, and the 7th Player Award during an on ice presentation. Welcome the annual Parade of Champions as youth hockey teams throughout central Massachusetts will take to the ice and be recognized for a terrific season.

Throughout the game, the Sharks will be hosting a game worn jersey auction, with the winners receiving the jerseys right of the back of the players during a post game ceremony!

There also will be several giveaways of Sharks merchandise and other prizes. Three lucky fans will have an opportunity to win a car courtesy of Lundgren Honda of Auburn during a SHOOT to WIN contest during the 2nd intermission!

It will be another $5 KIDS Sunday presented by Southwick's Zoo, with a full price adult ticket. Plus, kids get a FREE Southwick's Zoo one day pass!

The Boston Bruins Alumni roster will be announced a few days before the event and posted on SharksAHL.com. Past players included; Rick Middleton, Bob Sweeney, Bruce Shoebottom, Bob Beers, and many more!
