
Player Tryouts Set for April 29

(Joliet, IL) - The Joliet Slammers announced Tuesday their player tryouts will take place on Sunday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m.
"We're excited to see if we can find some hidden gems," Slammers VP of Baseball Operations Ron Biga said. "All our coaches will be in attendance and it should be a good time for everyone."
The tryouts will be held at Silver Cross Field and it will cost 40 dollars to participate. Only cash is accepted.
Any interested players must have been born after December 31, 1984 due to the Frontier League's age limit. In order to participate, players must have completed their college eligibility. Players need to bring their own equipment, including helmets and wood bats.
Registration will take place the day of the tryout. All interested players should arrive at 10:00 to sign up. It is a one day tryout with no make-up date in case of rain.
Players who do not get signed or cannot make the Slammers' tryout will still have a chance to sign on to a team at the Frontier League's try out in Washington, PA on Monday, April 30th.

Opening Night is Tuesday, May 22 as Joliet takes on the Traverse City Beach Bums at 7:05 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for after the game. The Joliet Slammers are members of the Frontier League of Professional Baseball. The Frontier League is the oldest continuously operating independent professional league, in its 20th season in 2012.
