Colts Bring Back Three Pitchers

San Angelo, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts announced Wednesday they have signed pitchers Brian Henschel, Kyle Boggio and Ryan Riddle. All three played at least part, if not all of last season with the Colts.

Henschel has spent his entire career with the Colts. Now entering his sixth season, Henschel first came to San Angelo in 2007. His best season was 2009 when he went 10-3 with a 2.19 earned-run average in 15 starts. He also had a career-high six complete games and three shutouts.

Last season Henschel went 7-8 with a 5.03 earned-run average in 18 games and 17 starts. Henschel, 35, has a 41-29 career record with a 4.51 earned-run average in 90 games and 86 starts.

Boggio first signed with the Colts on July 17 of last year. He played the rest of the season in San Angelo, going 0-1 with a 6.31 earned-run average in 15 games and one start. Boggio also made two relief appearances in the postseason against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.

The lefthander tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings, and surrendered just one hit in the playoffs.

Boggio, 26, is entering his fourth professional season. He has a 1-2 career record with a 6.39 earned-run average in 35 games and one start.

Riddle began last season with the Chico Outlaws. He went 1-2 with a 7.13 earned-run average in 18 relief appearances for the Outlaws. They released Riddle on July 21, and he joined the Colts on August 3.

Riddle went 0-1 with a 2.89 earned-run average in two starts for San Angelo. He finished the season with a 1-3 overall record and a 5.67 earned-run average in 20 games and two starts.

Riddle began his career in the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2007. He spent one season in their farm system, pitching for the Class Low A Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League.

Riddle, 26, is entering his sixth professional season. The southpaw has a 14-16 career record with a 5.45 earned-run average in 75 games and 39 starts.
