TUCSON - The Tucson Padres continue their efforts to connect with the Hispanic community in southern Arizona by hiring Francisco Gamez as the club's Director of Hispanic Marketing. Gamez is a former professional pitcher who organized the inaugural Vamos a Tucson Mexican Baseball Fiesta in October.

Gamez pitched professionally for ten seasons in the United States and Mexico, including six seasons in the Brewers organization in the 1990s. He grew up in Hermosillo, Mexico and has lived in Rita Ranch, Arizona for six years.

"The addition of Francisco Gamez to our staff is very important as we step up activities in the Hispanic community," said Tucson Padres Vice President & General Manager Mike Feder. "Expanding into the Hispanic community is our largest area of growth for the 2012 season."

"This is a great opportunity for me," said Gamez. "I look forward to giving back and helping our Hispanic community become interested in the Tucson Padres. Games at Kino Stadium are great family entertainment and a positive activity for kids."

Gamez will initiate contact with all Hispanic media in the area and will also sell sponsorships, tickets, and coordinate group events to the Hispanic community. He can be reached at (520) 434-1367 or by e-mail at francisco@tucsonpadres.com.

Tucson Padres Opening Night is on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Season tickets, weekend plans and voucher packages are now available by calling (520) 434-1367. For more information, you can visit www.tucsonpadres.com or the team's official Facebook page at facebook.com/pages/Tucson-Padres .
