Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Travel to Des Moines & Lincoln this Weekend

Sioux Falls Stampede News Release


The Sioux Falls Stampede (12-21-3) travel to Des Moines and Lincoln this Friday and Saturday in two big Western Conference tilts. The Stampede trail Des Moines and Tri-City by three points for the final playoff spot in the West. The Stampede are 3-0-0 against the Bucs this season and 6-0-0 including pre-season. Game time Friday is 7:05 PM.

On Saturday, the Herd travel to Lincoln to face the Stars who are in second place in the West with a 22-13-2 record. The Stars are coming off a 7-0 drubbing of Des Moines last Friday and have won two straight games.

Sioux Falls returns home for two games next week, February 15th against Des Moines and February 18th versus Sioux City.

Stampede Viewing Party this Friday!

Fans can catch the Stampede game at Des Moines this Friday "live" at both Buffalo Wild Wings in Sioux Falls starting at 7 PM! Catch all the action as the Stampede take on the Bucs in a huge battle for the final playoff spot in the West!

You can catch the game on all the TV big screens plus enjoy delicious food and drinks from Buffalo Wild Wings!

Wiener Dog Races Next Saturday!

The 5th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Races" are taking place next Saturday, February 18th at the Sioux Falls Arena! Registration has begun. Sign up your wiener dog now for the race! The first 40 entries will be accepted. Don't delay as the race will fill quickly!

GTL Night Next Wednesday!

Guys are you bummed you don't have a date this Valentine's Day? Well the Stampede are here to help! Next Wednesday, February 15th is a night devoted to guys! Broadhurst lighting it up in Omaha

Former Stampede star Terry Broadhurst had a four point night for the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday night. Broadhurst tallied two goals and two assists in a 6-4 loss to Bemidji State.

In 28 games this season, Broadhurst ranks second on the team with 32 points (16g, 16a). He leads the team with 7 powerplay goals and has just 6 penalty minutes all year. The Orland Park, IL native is a junior this year and is also a team captain.

Vitale signs 2 year extension with Penguins

Former Stampede forward Joe Vitale signed a two-year extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins last week. The contract will pay him over $1.1 million.

The Penguins recently featured Vitale on their website with a great story about him overcoming the odds to play in the NHL. Check it out here !

Vitale, 26, has emerged one Penguins' most versatile performers during his first full NHL campaign. He has 10 points (3g, 7a) in 46 games. Vitale played in Sioux Falls during the 2004-05 season before attending Northeastern University for four years.
