Colts Announce 2012 Schedule

San Angelo, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts announced their 2012 schedule Wednesday. They will play 96 games against five opponents in throughout Texas. The season will run from late May into early September.
The Colts open the new season at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 against the McAllen Thunder at Foster Field. Following the game there will be a fireworks show.
Among the highlights of the 56-game home schedule are 10 Thursday $1 Beer Night games and seven $2 Tuesday games. Other promotions include fireworks, 18 giveaway nights and three youth clinic nights. There are also 28 weekend games (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at Foster Field this season.
"A 56-game home schedule gives our fans more opportunities to enjoy our style of affordable family entertainment this summer," Colts General Manager Mike Babcock said. "The extra home games also allow us to create our largest promotional schedule to date. We are currently working on putting together an exciting 2012 promotional calendar."
Game times are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 6:05 p.m. on Sundays. Gates for every Colts home game open one hour prior to first pitch.
This year marks the Colts' 13th season and seventh in the United League/North American League. They played exclusively in the United League from 2006 through 2010 before it merged with the independent Golden and Northern leagues last year to form the independent North American League.
There will also be two new teams in the league: the Abilene Prairie Dogs and the Fort Worth Cats. Fort Worth re-establishes a local rival for the Colts, after spending the past six years in the independent American Association.
"We are excited about the two new additions to the league this year," Babcock said. "Abilene is an easy commuter trip for our team, and the Fort Worth Cats are an old rival of the Colts from the days of the Central Baseball League. Our fans will have the opportunity to see both of these clubs in action at Foster Field this summer. These additions also help solidify the league with no more trips out of state during the regular season."
