Brent Thiessen Named Recipient of 2012 Willis of Texas/N. Thomas Berry Commitment Cup

GLENDALE, AZ (January 11, 2012) - The 2012 CHL All-Star Banquet took place on Tuesday night at The Windmill House in Chino Valley, Arizona and at the event, Missouri Mavericks President and General Manager Brent Thiessen was awarded the 2012 Willis of Texas/N. Thomas Berry Commitment Cup.

The Commitment Cup is given each year at the CHL All-Star Game to a person who has shown great dedication and passion for not only the CHL but the sport of hockey.

"We are very happy to present Brent with this award," said Duane Lewis, CHL Commissioner. "His outstanding vision and the success he has experienced is respected among all the peers in his industry and his commitment to excellence is unmatched in all of minor pro sports."

Thiessen, a former employee of the host team Arizona Sundogs, was presented the award by N. Thomas Berry (Commissioner Emeritus of the CHL).

The Mavericks are the third CHL club that Thiessen has worked for with the Colorado Eagles and the Sundogs being the other two

The Northern Colorado native was named the CHL Executive of the Year in 2008 and the Missouri Mavericks franchise was the CHL Franchise of the Year in 2011 under Thiessen's tutelage.
