Erie, Pennsylvania, Saturday, December 10 - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants used a strong fourth quarter effort to defeat the Erie BayHawks 94-87 on Saturday night at Tullio Arena.
Fort Wayne's Gage Daye scored eleven of his 12 points in the final frame as the visitors outscored the home team 36-26 down the stretch, including a 23-9 run, and help the Mad Ants improve to 3-3.
Erie (2-5) jumped out to an early lead to end the first quarter up 21-15, before Fort Wayne tied the game with a minute to go before the half, and a low scoring first half remained close with the Mad Ants taking a 40-39 lead in to halftime.
Erie's Chaz McCrommon scored ten of his 15 points in the third quarter to help Erie manage a three point margin heading to the final frame. But the visitors had the hot hand in the fourth connecting on 67% of their shots including four three pointers.
Fort Wayne was lead by Corey Allmond with 21 points, Marvin Phillips notched 20 and Sadiel Rojas grabbed 13 rebounds while adding 8 points.
The BayHawks' Kyle Spain lead all scorers with 24 points and Tirrell Baines added 22 points.
Erie will head to Springfield, Mass. to begin a four-game road trip Wednesday night against the Armor before facing Maine next weekend. The Mad Ants head home for a Friday night match-up with the defending NBA D-League champion Iowa Energy.
