IceGators Lose to Huntsville, Fall Below .500

Huntsville,Alabama-The Louisiana IceGators went scoreless on nine powerplays Saturday night during a 5-2 loss against the Huntsville Havoc. This is the Gators third straight defeat, dropping them below the .500 mark for the first time this season.
The Havoc scored first, as Rick Schrank scored off of a Sam Cannata pass at the 8:27 mark of the period. Glenn Detullo scored on a powerplay with one minute remaining in the period to make the score 2-0. The IceGators responded early in the second period. Jordan Oye scored off a Josh Duplantis feed to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Havoc's Justin Fox responded with a goal of his own at the 5:00 mark to bring Huntsville's lead back to two goals. Kevin Beauregard put the Gators back within a goal of a tie when he scored off of an Austin Aiken pass at 16:23. With 26 seconds left in the second, the Havoc's Ryan Salvis scored, giving Huntsville a 4-2 lead going into the intermission. That score would not change until Salvis scored on a powerplay empty net goal with just over a minute remaining in the contest.
IceGators head coach Kevin Kaminski was critical of his team after the game. Kaminski said, "When you give up goals late in the periods, it's demoralizing, especially when you work hard to get yourself back in the game." He added, "We have to learn from these growing pains. We have to get better in all aspects of the game, start doing the little things right, and learn the winning ways. Everyone has to do some soul searching this week and prove they can play in this league."
The IceGators next game takes place next Saturday. They will travel to Biloxi to take on the Mississippi Surge.
