Louisiana IceGators News Release

Fayetteville, North Carolina - Aggressive offense and a stingy defense delivered the Louisiana IceGators their second victory of the year, as they defeated the Fayetteville FireAntz 4-0.

Jordan Oye opened the scoring thirteen minutes into the first period with assists coming from Tobias Carlsson and Alex Morton. Two more goals came in the second period. Brayden Metz scored his second goal of the year at the 2:58 mark. He was assisted by Shawn McNeil and Jason Hill. Later in the period, Morton and David Simoes set up Robert Short for a powerplay goal. Brayden Metz picked up his second goal of the night on an empty net powerplay with three minutes left in the contest.

The IceGators defense had a strong presence in the game. The FireAntz had difficulty reaching the offensive zone. When they did, goalie Mike Brown stopped every shot that came his way. Brown recorded his first shutout of the season by stopping all 25 of Fayetteville's shots.

"I thought the boys came to play with passion, heart, and a commitment to defense first," said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "They really played well and did a great job clogging up the neutral zone and keeping everything to the outside. It was a very solid 60 minutes."

The undefeated IceGators will travel to Augusta, Georgia and Huntsville, Alabama next week for a three game road trip. The first two games will be played October 27th and 28th in Augusta at 6:35pm. The final game will be Saturday against the Huntsville Havoc at 7:30pm.
