Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla., Oct. 8, 2011 - The Tulsa 66ers, proud affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, wrapped up the first day of open tryouts on Saturday inside the Tulsa Convention Center. Included in the group of players from across the country, all competing for invitations to 66ers training camp in November, were 16 men from the state of Oklahoma.
"From top to bottom, I thought the talent-level of the players that attended today was very good," 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. "I liked the energy and thought everyone competed at a high-level."
Opening day consisted of two sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Each session spanned approximately two hours.
"We are looking for players that have maybe slipped through the cracks a little bit or maybe a guy who has played a couple years overseas," Tibbetts said. "We are looking for a player that wants to play the right way. We need guys that want to guard and have a team-first attitude."
Tryouts conclude on Sunday with an invitation-only morning session beginning at 10 a.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
The Tulsa 66ers open the 2011-12 D-League season on the road Nov. 25 at Idaho. Season tickets for all 24 home games this season, including the home-opener against the Austin Toros on Dec. 3, are now on sale by calling the 66ers ticket office at (918) 585-8444.
