Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (October 3, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced the Mallards have teamed with Dwyer & Michaels and 97X to offer those who think they are good enough, tough enough and skilled enough the chance to try out to play for the team in a preseason game.

Mallards coach and general manager David Bell will hold a special open tryout next Sunday, October 9 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the i wireless Center for Dwyer & Michaels listeners, Mallards fans and hockey players from throughout the Quad Cities- male or female- who think they have what it takes to play for the Flock. Along with Bell, current Mallards will also be on the ice Sunday to help test the mettle and skills of those trying out. The session will include evaluation drills, conditioning and a scrimmage.

The top three tryout camp performers will first be selected, then a final winner will be chosen from among that trio and given the opportunity to don the Mallard jersey and play in the Flock's preseason game against the Evansville IceMen on Saturday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the i wireless Center. Tickets to watch the homegrown contest winner and the rest of the Flock in action in that preseason tilt are available at (309) 277-1364 or myqcmallards.com.

"This is a great opportunity- especially for those fans who like to perhaps on occasion scream and yell and criticize- to come and show me how it is done," said Bell. "The tryout will be a unique chance to not only gain an appreciation of how big, strong and fast these players actually are by being on the same ice as them but also for our winner to have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing for the Mallards."

Those who wish to try out can register by emailing their name, phone number, email address and age to info@myqcmallards.com or by calling the Mallards at (309) 277-1364. The deadline for registration is 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Contestants must check in at the i wireless Center between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Players trying out must be 21 years of age or older and will need to provide their own equipment.

Dwyer & Michaels are heard weekday mornings from 5:30 to 10:00 a.m. on 97X in the Quad Cities and online at 2dorks.com .

The Mallards will open their second CHL regular season on home ice on Saturday night, October 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush. The Flock's 2011-12 schedule features 33 home games, including 25 weekend dates. 2011-12 season tickets are now on sale- season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. Regular season single game tickets are also now on sale. Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com for more information about both season and single game tickets.

Single game tickets are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets will be available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level.
