Barons Host NHL Draft Watch Party Friday; Team Honored at AHL Marketing Meetings

The Oklahoma City Barons will host an NHL Draft watch party June 24 at the Courtyard by Marriott, Downtown OKC, the Barons front office announced today.

Join fellow hockey fans, head coach Todd Nelson, assistant coach Gerry Fleming and general manager Bill Scott as the next generation of NHL stars are chosen in the 2011 NHL Draft. The Barons NHL Draft watch party begins at 6 p.m. in the restaurant/lounge area of the Courtyard by Marriott, Downtown OKC. Parking is complimentary in the garage on the south side of the hotel. Please pull a ticket upon entry and have it validated inside. The Barons NHL Draft Watch Party is open to the public. At the end of the evening, the Oklahoma City Barons and Courtyard by Marriott, Downtown OKC will give a special prize pack to one lucky fan. For the evening of June 24th only, the Courtyard by Marriott, Downtown OKC will offer Barons fans a special discounted rate so they can stay the night after the event and enjoy all Bricktown has to offer. Oklahoma City's parent club, the Edmonton Oilers, own the first pick in the NHL Draft. It marks the first second consecutive season the Oilers have had the #1 overall selection. With the #1 overall selection last season, the Oilers selected Taylor Hall. In 65 games with the Oilers last season, he recorded 42 points (22-20-42), good for second on the team.

NOTE: The Oklahoma City Barons were honored at the American Hockey League marketing meetings in Springfield, Mass. yesterday afternoon.

The team was honored for achievement in the area of total season seats sold and new season seats sold for the 10-11 season.
