LAFAYETTE, LA (May 26, 2011) - The Louisiana IceGators announced Wednesday that former player Louis Dumont has been named the team's new general manager.

Dumont joins the IceGators' front office following a stellar 17-year professional career on the ice. He played for the original Louisiana IceGators (East Coast Hockey League) from 1996-1999, and was voted the team's fan favorite in each of his three seasons. Ironically, Dumont played in four of the SPHL's eight cities during his career (Lafayette, Augusta, Pensacola and Biloxi).

"We were looking for that perfect fit that the people of the community of Lafayette were going to feel comfortable with, and accept, and obviously want to be a part of the 'Gators again," said IceGators' President Chuck Anselmo III during the press conference. "We needed a guy with integrity, business savvy, someone who was good with the community and there was a name that kept popping up over and over. It was pretty obvious that this was the guy for the job."

"My vision as the GM of the Louisiana IceGators is to make it fun again," stated Dumont. "We will do this by winning on the ice, obviously, and treating the fans and sponsors the way they are supposed to be treated. The life of our organization was community."

"The entire SPHL is excited to have Louis as the new face of the IceGators," said SPHL President Jim Combs. "We look forward to Louis being an integral part of not only the IceGators, but the SPHL as well."
