Grady and Rayford Earn Weekly AFL Honors

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce that QB Tommy Grady (6-7, 245, Utah) and DL Caesar Rayford (6-7, 265, Washington) have been named the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week and Riddell Defensive Player of the Week by the Arena Football League, respectively.
Grady guided the Blaze to their first road victory of the season last Friday night, completing 33-of-45 passes for 344 yards and ten touchdowns, tying former Blaze QB Joe Germaine in passing touchdowns in a game (10). Grady sits atop the league in passing average per game with 319.1.
Rayford was a key component on the defensive line in the Blaze's victory, tallying three sacks and two fumble recoveries. He also inked himself in the Blaze record books with three sacks in a game. The record was previously tied at two between Chris Janek, Maurice Fountain and Steve Konopka. Rayford leads the Blaze in sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (5.0).
The AFL will also be awarding the National Guard MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner on Facebook and ArenaFootball.com. Candidates include Orlando QB Nick Hill, Utah QB Tommy Grady and Georgia WR CJ Johnson. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 12, 2011.
