NEW YORK, April 6, 2011 - The Washington Wizards signed forward Larry Owens of the Tulsa 66ers for the remainder of the season today for the 22nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Owens' call-up, his second this season, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience to 98.

Owens (6-7, 210) earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the San Antonio Spurs in January. He appeared in seven games with the Spurs, averaging 1.3 points in 4.4 minutes. In 43 games (42 starts) this season with Tulsa, Owens averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, leading the 66ers to a 33-17 record and a berth in the NBA D-League Playoffs.

Last season, Owens started all 50 regular-season games for the 66ers, averaging 15.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals, and was named to the All-NBA D-League Third Team. In leading Tulsa to last year's NBA D-League Finals, Owens averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in eight playoff games.

Owens spent two seasons at Yavapai (Ariz.) Community College (2001-03), before transferring to Oral Roberts University, where he posted career averages of 10.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists. As a senior, Owens was named to the All-Mid-Continent Conference First Team and was the MCC Defensive Player of the Year.

Owens is expected to join the Wizards today, and should be available when the team plays at Indiana tonight at 7 p.m. ET.
