MONDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Monday's games:
- Renaldo Major scored 21 points and Javaris Crittenton added 20 points to lead Dakota past Sioux Falls. Keaton Grant had 21 points for the Skyforce. Mike Anderson added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Wizards.
TWO FIRST ROUND NBA D-LEAGUE PLAYOFF GAMES TO BE TELEVISED NATIONALLY ON VERSUS
Two first round games of the upcoming NBA Development League Playoffs will be televised nationally on VERSUS. Game 1 of the first round series between the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Bakersfield Jam, which will tip off in Bakersfield at 10 p.m. ET on Friday, April 8, will air that night on VERSUS at 11:30 p.m. ET. Also, Game 2 of the first round series between the Iowa Energy and Utah Flash will air live on VERSUS from Iowa on Monday, April 11 at 8 p.m. ET. In total, VERSUS will televise six games of the NBA D-League Playoffs, including every game of the NBA D-League Finals.
TEXAS' ANTONIO DANIELS SIGNS WITH PHILADELPHIA
Guard Earns 2010-11 NBA D-League Season's 21st GATORADE Call-Up
The Philadelphia 76ers signed guard Antonio Daniels of the Texas Legends for the 21st GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Daniels' call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 98. Daniels (6-4, 195) has appeared in 38 games (37 starts) with Texas this season, averaging 14.5 points, 8.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals. Daniels, who has logged 15 double-doubles this season, ranks second in the league in assists, third in minutes (38.1 mpg) and seventh in free throw percentage (197-227, .868). A 12-year NBA veteran, Daniels was selected out of Bowling Green by the Vancouver Grizzlies with the fourth overall pick of the 1997 NBA Draft. Over 868 regular season games with six NBA teams, Daniels averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 22.6 minutes. Daniels also appeared in 80 playoff games, averaging 8.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.1 rebounds, and won an NBA Championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 1998-99. Daniels should be available when Philadelphia plays at Boston tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.
TEXAS' JOE ALEXANDER NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Joe Alexander of the Texas Legends was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of March 28. Alexander, a 6-8, 220-pound forward out of West Virginia, who was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, led the Legends to a 2-1 record on the week, averaging 32.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists, shooting 66.7 percent (40-60) from the field. Alexander, who has played with the Bucks and Chicago Bulls, scored 24 points in a 132-112 win over Springfield on Wednesday, and had a game-high 38 points, to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks in a 120-118 loss at Austin on Thursday. On Saturday, needing a win to secure a spot in the NBA D-League Playoffs, Alexander tallied 36 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and two blocks, leading the Legends to a 134-128 win at Austin in double overtime.
