Bucks' Pelletier Called up to AHL

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Wednesday that goaltender Pier Pelletier has been called up to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League. Pelletier has signed a player tryout agreement (PTO) and is expected to be in the line-up Friday for the Whale when they host Hamilton. The Bucks also announced that they have called up defenseman Adam Gebara from the Mississippi Surge (SPHL), activated B.J Crum from the IR and released Brent Currie.

"Any player who's ever put on a uniform wants a chance to move up and that's what Pier's gotten," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "We are happy for Pier to get the chance to show AHL teams what kind of player he is. We are very proud of him and wish him the best of luck."

This season the 23-year-old Pelletier has a 6-9-4 record with a 3.33 G.A.A and a .895 sv. % in 21 games for the Bucks. Pelletier picked up his first career shutout on January 14th when he stopped all 21 shots leading the Bucks to a 7-0 rout of Rio Grande Valley.

As a rookie last season Pelletier (pronounced PELL-tea-eh) went 9-4-3 for the Bucks with a 2.88 G.A.A and a .915 sv.%, including finishing the regular season with an 11-game unbeaten streak (9-0-2). In the 2010 Playoffs Pelletier played in all seven games against Allen in the Southern Conference semifinals posting a 3-4 record with a 2.88 G.A.A and a .920 sv.%.

BUCKS CALL UP GEBARA

The 28-year-old Gebara is in his fourth professional season having played six games this season for Mississippi scoring three points (0-33).

Last season Gebara put up 13 points (5-813) in 35 games for the Deggendorf Fire in Germany. In 2008-09 the 6'0'', 170 pound Gebara had 20 points (5-1520) in 32 games for Nijmegen Devils in Holland.

Gebara, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, spent the 2007-08 season with the Twin City Cyclones (SPHL) where he had eight points (2-68) in 48 games.

Gebara played four seasons of college hockey for Potsdam University (NCAA D-III).

CRUM ACTIVATED FROM IR

Crum has been activated from the IR and is expected to be in the line-up Friday night when the Bucks travel to Tulsa. Crum missed the last three games with an upper-body injury.

This season Crum has five points (0-55) and 29 PIM's in 30 games.

CURRIE RELEASED

The Bucks released Currie Wednesday after he played in the Bucks 3-2 overtime loss to Rio Grande Valley. Currie is a full-time firefighter and will return to his job in San Antonio.
