RENO, Nev. - The Reno Bighorns acquired former NBA lottery pick Patrick O'Bryant yesterday in a trade with the Bakersfield Jam, filling the roster spot vacated by injured point guard Aaron Miles.
O'Bryant, a 7-0, 250-pound center from Bradley University, was the 9th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. He has appeared in 90-career games in the NBA with Golden State, Boston and Toronto, averaging 2.1 points per game and 1.4 rebounds per game.
While at Bradley, O'Bryant led his team to the Sweet 16 in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, while averaging 11.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game in two seasons with the Braves.
In exchange for O'Bryant, the Bighorns parted with their first-round pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft.
O'Bryant will be active for Reno's games today and Thursday at the NBA D-League Showcase in South Padre Island, Texas.
