Kinston Indians News Release

Kinston, NC - The Kinston Indians announced today that Benjamin Jones is the new General Manager for the K-Tribe. Jones is a Raleigh native and just completed his fourth season as the GM for the nearby Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plains League.

"We are excited about having Benjamin on board," said Kinston Indians owner Cam McRae. "He brings a lot of managerial experience to Kinston along with his passion for the game of baseball."

Jones began his career in baseball as an intern for the Johnson City Cardinals in 2004. He returned to work for the Cardinals the following season as the Director of Stadium Operations. In December of 2005 Benjamin stepped into a full time position with Johnson City as the Assistant General Manager.

"I'm excited about this great opportunity to work with the K-Tribe staff and meet the wonderful fans," said Jones. "Not every organization is lucky enough to have a loyal and devoted fan base and I feel privileged to be a part of this team."

Benjamin is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and a graduate of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Jones graduated from ETSU in December 2005 with a B.S. in Sport and Leisure Management. Jones was selected in a nationwide search to replace former K-Tribe GM Shari Massengill, who is now the Assistant General Manager for the Gwinnett Braves.

The K-Tribe is celebrating the 25th year of affiliation with the Cleveland Indians in 2011. The quarter century stretch is the longest running affiliation in the Carolina League and the third longest in all of A ball.
