Austin Toros to Host Draft Party

AUSTIN, TEXAS, Oct. 20, 2010 - The Austin Toros will host their 2010 NBA D-League Draft party on Monday, November 1 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Austin. Fans should arrive early for games, prizes and fun for the whole family to enjoy. The event is free to the public and the Toros are inviting all their fans to come out and celebrate the beginning of a new season.

The Toros selected rookie guard Alonzo Gee (Alabama) in the first round of the 2009 NBA D-League draft. Gee was a D-League standout averaging 21 points and six rebounds during the season. He represented the Toros in the 2010 D-League All-Star Game in Dallas, Texas and was also honored as the 2009-2010 D-League Rookie of the Year. Gee received NBA GATORADE Call-ups to the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs during the season and is currently on the roster with the Spurs.

New Head Coach Brad Jones will be present to greet Toros fans and announce selections, along with mascot Da Bull and the Capital City Dancers. The Toros have the 14th pick in the first of eight rounds of a "serpentine" process, meaning the order is reversed after each round. The Draft will be held via teleconference at the League's headquarters in New York and begins at 7 p.m. ET. Team selections can be viewed online at www.nba.com/dleague.
