SDCS Game 2 K-Tribe Notes

Kinston Indians News Release


The K-Tribe takes on Winston-Salem in the Triad for game two of the best of five series tonight at 7pm. Kinston will return home to Historic Grainger Stadium for game three on Friday at 7pm. If necessary, game four will be in Kinston on Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now!

Kinston Drops Game One - Jason Bour's RBI single in the sixth inning carried the Dash to a 3-2 win over Kinston in game one of the SDCS. The K-Tribe scored runs on Chun Chen's double in the first and Donnie Webb's single in the sixth. Winston scored two unearned runs after Juan Diaz's first inning error before Bour came through with the winning hit.

Last Playoff Win - Kinston's last playoff victory was on September 6, 2007 against Salem. Josh Rodriguez hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth for a 1-0 win. Salem took the series 2-1. This is the K-Tribe's first playoff appearance since 2007, and 17th in 24 years as an Indians affiliate.

Postseason History - The playoff appearance will end a two year drought, the only time the K-Tribe has missed the playoffs in consecutive years as a Cleveland affiliate (24 years). Kinston's last playoff appearance (2007) ended a Carolina League record string of seven straight years in the postseason. Kinston has won six Carolina League Championships all-time, with five of those coming as an Indians affiliate. The K-Tribe has now made the playoffs in 12 of the last 16 years. Kinston won more regular season (772) and playoff games (17) than any other team in the league last decade, appeared in the playoffs seven times, won four division titles and two Mills Cup Championships.
