Drillers Hosting Cardinals August 6-9
Published on August 3, 2010 under Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers return to ONEOK Field on Friday, August 6 for the start of an important series with the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals). The four-game set will run through Monday, August 9.
The series with the Cardinals will have implications on both team's post-season hopes. Like the first half, Tulsa and Springfield are battling Northwest Arkansas for the second-half title.
The Drillers actually have two ways of getting a spot in the Texas League playoffs. The first way would be to win the second-half North Division crown. The other way would involve Northwest Arkansas repeating its first-half title. If the Naturals were to also win the second-half crown, the North Division team with the best overall record in both halves would claim the second playoff berth. Tulsa currently trails Springfield in this race.
Three of the four games with the Redbirds will begin at 7:05PM at ONEOK Field. The lone exception will be the game on Sunday, August 8 that will start at 6:05PM.
Friday Night Fireworks on Friday, August 6 will highlight the promotions schedule for the series. Other promotions will include Rivalry Night on Saturday, August 7, FUNday Sunday, Kids Eat Free on Sunday, August 8 and Girls Night Out on Monday, August 9. A complete list of all promotions is below.
Tickets for all games of the homestand are currently on sale at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office at 201 N. Elgin Ave. and at TulsaDrillers.com. Tickets are also available by calling the Ticket Office at (918)744-5901.
HOT IN JULY: Tulsa catcher Wilin Rosario was named the Texas League's Player of the Month for July by the Topps Company of New York. Rosario hit .319 with a league-leading 9 home runs in July.
HOT IN JULY II: The Drillers enjoyed their best month of the season in July, finishing 19-11. The mark was the best record in the Texas League.
FOR THE TEAM: After 105 games, Tulsa led the Texas League with 53 successful sacrifice bunts.
.500 IT IS: Tulsa and Springfield have split 24 previous meetings this season with each team winning 12 games. There has been no home field advantage with the two teams also splitting 16 games in Springfield and 8 games in Tulsa.
STAYING HOME: The series with Cardinals will be the start of the final 30 games of the regular season for the Drillers. Of the 30 games, Tulsa will play 17 of the games at ONEOK Field.
