NORWICH, CT-The Connecticut Tigers are proud to announce Hartford Whalers Night on Friday, August 6 when the Tigers battle the Hudson Valley Renegades, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:05 p.m. The Tigers will be celebrating Hartford's long association with the National Hockey League with appearances by former Whalers owner Howard Baldwin and former Whalers great Bobby Crawford.
"We think this is a great way to celebrate Connecticut's most storied sports franchise," said Tigers General Manger Andrew Weber. "Residents of Connecticut have fond memories of the Whalers and with Mr. Baldwin's recent announcements; this is something we really wanted to do."
Baldwin and Crawford will be meeting fans and signing autographs on the concourse during the game. The Hartford Whalers Booster Club and the Whalers Winter Classic will also have a presence at the ballpark with information for fans at the game. The Whalers Winter Classic will take place at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on the weekend of February 11-13, 2011 and will feature a Whalers and Bruins alumni game on February 12 along with the UCONN men's and women's hockey doubleheader on February 13.
The Tigers have been playing the Whalers unofficial theme song, the Brass Bonanza at all of the team's home games during 2010 season whenever the Tigers score a run.
The Tigers are currently home through Friday, August 6 at Dodd Stadium. To purchase tickets, please call the Tigers at (860) 887-7962, go online to www.cttigers.com, or stop by the Dodd Stadium Box Office during normal business hours.
